Since then I have been having a hard time installing Windows XP on it, so I decided I would try and install my Windows 7 Professional Upgrade on it. The computer has two hard drives wiped totally clean. The only thing I had was my Windows 7 Professional Upgrade DVD and needed to install it on my computer.<\/p>\n<p>I was able to by doing the following steps:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_43\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.doug.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Win7.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[42]\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43\" title=\"Windows 7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doug.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Win7-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Windows 7\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.doug.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Win7-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.doug.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Win7.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-43\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Windows 7<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I opened regedit and navigated to the following key:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; color: #101010; background-position: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\"><em>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\/Software\/Microsoft\/Windows\/CurrentVersion\/Setup\/OOBE\/<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; color: #101010; background-position: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\"><em>Change MediaBootInstall from \u201c1\u2033 to \u201c0\u2033.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; color: #101010; background-position: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\"><em>I went and typed cmd into the search bar and ran it as an administrator. I typed the following command &#8220;slmgr \/rearm&#8221; (without quotes)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; color: #101010; background-position: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">I rebooted my computer and went to activate Windows normally. It activated just fine. Of course, I had a copy of Windows XP that came on my Dell, so I was prepared to enter the serial key if needed.
